Sudden death overtime hockey is such a good thing because it decides a winner for a tied game. As in the latter format, if the game is not won in the final of the three periods, the game goes into overtime. It’s the first team that scores a goal during this overtime period that will win this game. So theoretically, there’s no time at which the game should technically end and do what no fans nor players want, and that is extend the game from here to there. Do you know How Long are hockey games, typically? During overtime periods, the teams play just 5 on 5 for the duration of the time, which can be 5 or 10 minutes, though how long the periods are will vary depending on which league you’re following. If, however, no one scores during this time, then it’s possible the game will be decided in a shootout.
